What does a Material Handler do?
A material handler does what the name suggests, they move materials. Now, depending on the industry, you could move any type of material from one place to another. Matheson works with mail, so our material handlers move mail from airplanes and trucks. Material Handlers can work in warehouses, covered areas, or even airplane runways.
Moving materials is an active job, lifting packages and pushing mail carts. So if you hate sitting for hours, this is the job for you. This is also a good job for those who don’t want to focus on customer service, waiting on people, or learning tedious computer programs.
This job is reliable, with set schedules during the day and night. Are you a night owl? Or do you have kids and need to be there during the day? There are evening, overnight, and early morning shifts available. Or do you prefer to work during the day? Or want to split your shifts up? 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours at night? Material handlers have many options when it comes to schedules that work best for them.
