As Manager of People & Systems, Lizet plays a critical role in Matheson’s daily operations. We spoke with Lizet to learn about her journey to Matheson, the importance of her work, and her advice for those interested in joining Matheson. Could you kindly introduce yourself and clarify your role at Matheson?
“My name is Lizet Oviedo, and I’m the Manager, People & Systems.”
When did you start working at Matheson?
“I began my career with Matheson as a temp in September of 2017.”
Tell us a bit more about your position at Matheson, why is it important?
“In my position, we play a key role in developing an organizations culture and facilitating communication between Managers and employees. Within People Operations, we get to manage and develop new processes that lead to a successful and efficient candidate experience throughout the hiring process. I’m an analyzer and I like to be challenged. Managing systems and working with new platforms to maximize their value for People Operations and across the Business is what I enjoy the most.”
What advice would you give to someone who just started their career at Matheson?
“Don’t shy away from asking questions. It’s not a sign of incompetence; it’s a path to excellence. Embrace this tool with enthusiasm, and you’ll find that it opens doors, enhances your skills, and ultimately paves the way to a successful and fulfilling career here at Matheson. So, go ahead, ask those questions, and watch yourself learn, make mistakes, and build confidence and clarity.”
Could you tell us your favorite Matheson story?
“I don’t have a favorite Matheson story, but I love the people I work with! I’ve been so fortunate for this opportunity and know that my knowledge and contributions are valued and respected.”
